Review: Auggie & Me – Three Wonder Stories by R.J. Palacio

Remember “Wonder”? Certainly one of my favorite books of all time. Well, the book got a sequel. “Auggie & Me – Three Wonder Stories” tells three different sites of this story from kids that are all close to Auggie in some way.

The first story is about Julian who was the number one bully in the original book. It explains a bit more why Julian is behaving the way he does. Julian is being mean to Auggie because he is scared. He was so mean that he even got suspended from school and also has to deal with his parents.

Christopher, called Pluto, is Auggie’s oldest friend. They started being friends the day they were born. The second story portraits this special friendship that started long before Auggie went off to school.

Last but not least there is Charlotte. This chapter circles around Auggie’s first year at school. Charlotte is also being nice to Auggie but has to deal with her own stuff.

This book is all about friendship and kindness. Kindness always beats meanness. Summer, Charlotte’s and Auggie’s friend stood out because of her kindness, too. I would have liked it if there would be a perspective from Summer as well.

I hope that everyone of you will choose kindness and not the other!

Special credits to my classmate Joe who kindly let me borrow his book. Thanks my friend!

How did I like the book?
I loved the book because it gives more background to the Wonder story.

Who is that book for?
For people who spread kindness.
